Design of Strategies and Policies Proportional to Iranian Shipping Industries at Macro-Level: Application of SWOT Approach

The shipbuilding industry has a direct and indirect impact on other parts of the industry and is known as a productive industry that can affect a range of industries and other businesses. The purpose of this study examines the status of the country's shipbuilding industry in terms of its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the threats and opportunities around it to design and propose desirable strategies and policies for this industry. This study has a qualitative approach, according to the first step of the research data through semi-structural interviews with 40 experts in the ship-building. Then, the method of collecting documentation was used to complete the information. After the data analysis, 135 codes were extracted, which were summarized in 56 categories. According to the results of the study, the Iranian Shipping Industries in the SWOT matrix falls in a conservative position (WO) and accordingly, seven macro -level strategies and policy are appropriate to the current conditions of the Iranian Shipbuilding Industry: (1 ) Supporting students to invest in mass production of equipment, (2) Merging and Support Productivity Programs, (3) Creating Independent Maritime Industry Research Institute, (4) Creating Industrial Clusters and Supply Network Equipment Regulators, (5) Facilitating the Investment and Cooperation of Technology Companies, (6) Relationship with Regional Markets and Export Fields and (7) Planning for Green Yard.
