Explaining and Prioritizing the Components of the Ethical Principles of the Managers of the Country's Ports and Maritime Organization

Abstract:

The present research has explained and prioritized the components of the ethical principles of the managers of ports and maritime organizations of the country by using a mixed research design (qualitative and quantitative). To collect data in the qualitative step, interviews with experts and in the quantitative step, a questionnaire from the qualitative step of the research was used. The statistical population of the research was the directors of the Ports and Maritime Organization of the country. In order to select research samples, the research data was collected from the accessible sampling method and based on 15 in-depth interviews with experts related to the subject. Brown and Clark (2006) theme and pattern analysis method was used to analyze the data in the qualitative step and the best-worst BWM method was used in the quantitative step. The findings of the theme analysis about ethical principles are presented in 4 main themes, 1- Principles of personality ethics, 2- Principles of Islamic ethics, 3- Principles of occupational ethics, 4- Principles of administrative ethics and 27 sub-themes. In the quantitative step, the principles of personal ethics with a weight of 0.416 are the first priority, the principles of Islamic ethics with a weight of 0.227 are the second priority, the principles of administrative ethics with a weight of 0.17 are the third priority and the principles of occupational ethics with a weight of 0.136 are the fourth priority according to experts. The results of the present research showed that the managers of the country's ports and maritime organization should pay attention to the promotion of the four ethical principles presented in this research and have intellectual and far-sighted thoughts in the conditions of crisis and challenges ahead.
