The influence of the Greek peripatetic school of philosophy on Islamic philosophy

Greece, as one of the important centers of pre-Islamic civilization, had various philosophical schools. One of these schools is the Peripatetic school of philosophy, which along with the Hermesian school of philosophy are the two most important philosophical schools of Greek civilization. The question that arises here is what is the nature of the Peripatetic philosophical school and to what extent has Peripatetic philosophy influenced Islamic philosophy and civilization? Descriptive and analytical analysis of this issue shows that Peripatetic philosophy as a philosophy with Greek roots, due to its rational and argumentative nature, emerged in the Islamic civilization from the third century AH with the emergence of great figures such as Kennedy and later Farabi. . After this, Ibn Sina perfected the Peripatetic philosophy. The rationalism that is emphasized in this philosophy has become one of the reasons for the growth and promotion of Islamic civilization in the fourth and fifth centuries AH. Although peripatetic philosophy in the Islamic world with the emergence of anti-philosophers such as Ghazali, stagnated for a while and philosophy in general disappeared from the Sunnis, but with the emergence of great Shiites such as Khaja Nasir al-Din Tusi and after him the great philosophers in the Safavid era They emerged and institutionalized transcendent wisdom, we are witnessing the flourishing of philosophy among the Shiites and to some extent the growth of Islamic civilization at this time.
