Validation of the Persian Version of the Instagram Addiction Scale (IAS-6) Among Iranian Students

Due to the increasing use of Instagram, which can bring many opportunities and challenges, in the present study, the Persian version of the Instagram Addiction Scale (IAS-6) among Iranian students was validated.

The method of this research was descriptive-survey. The statistical population was all students of Mashhad universities that 681 subjects were selected from this population by multi-stage cluster sampling method (Lottery) and were given two scales of Instagram addiction (IAS-6 & IAS-15) and Ryff Psychological Well-being Scale (RPWS-18) responded.

The results showed that this scale has good construct validity and criteria. The reliability of Cronbach's alpha and retest methods was 0.83 and 0.71, respectively, which is very desirable. In terms of criterion validity, this scale had a positive and significant relationship with well-being, and a negative and significant relationship, with 15 questions Instagram addiction (p<0.01). There was also no significant difference between men and women in Instagram addiction.

The authors of the survey conclude that this tool can be used in Iranian examples. Also, conducting academic studies is very important due to the increasing use of this platform and its positive and negative capacities.
