Objective
The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Islamic spiritual therapy on the happiness of adolescent girls from broken families.
Method
The present study was conducted in a quasi-experimental manner with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The statistical population consisted of all first grade female high school students in Islamshahr in 1998-99, of which 30 were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. The measurement tool in this study was Argil and Crosland (1987) Happiness Questionnaire. After post-test intervention and after 4 months, follow-up test was performed. Data analysis was performed using univariate covariance (ANOVA) and multivariate covariance (Mankova) tests with SPSS software.
Results
The results of statistical analysis obtained from analysis of covariance showed that Islamic spirituality therapy has a significant effect on happiness in adolescent girls of broken families. It also showed that the mean score of the experimental group in the post-test was higher than the control group and was statistically significant. There was a significant difference in the post-test stage (P <0.01).
Conclusion
Based on the obtained results, Islamic spiritual therapy method had a significant effect on happiness; therefore, this method can be used to increase the happiness of adolescent girls from broken families.
