Examining symbols and symbolic images in contemporary poems of expectation
Symbol is one of the most widely used figurative functions of language, through which beautiful images are created in poetry. Symbols and symbolic images are mostly used in texts that have idealism and perfectionism content. The literature of expectation is one of the most extensive of these fields. The aim of this article is to examine the image and symbolic image as well as the process of its formation, to examine this influential author in the creation of images in contemporary songs of expectation. The body of the article consists of the analysis of the symbol and symbolic images in terms of its types, purpose, features and functions by mentioning many evidences. Studies show that the symbols used in contemporary songs of expectation are mostly intellectual symbols that are often traditional, sometimes contractual and in a few cases personal. Some of them are easily understood, and the understanding of another group depends on the mental familiarity of the audience with the religious values and the subject of Mahdism. Also, the results indicate that, in comparison with religious and mythological symbols, more than ninety percent of the symbols in the songs of expectation are from nature. In the domain of the characteristics and function of symbolic images, the union of image and content, as well as awareness and induction of emotions, has been the main focus of the work of poets of this literary genre.
