Triphosphoro Pentanitride (P3N5): Introduction, Properties, Synthesis Methods and Applications
Nitride compounds are among the most important and widely used compounds in life. The high chemical, thermal and mechanical stability of nitride compounds is due to the interaction of two factors, such as very strong bonds between the elements and the existence of completely covalent structures. Triphosphorus pentanitride (P3N5) is an important nitride compound. Three structures of alpha, gamma and delta are known from Triphosphorus pentanitride, which are synthesized at low to high pressures, respectively, but the most well-known and used structure is alpha triphosphorous pentanitride. P3N5 synthesis methods generally include ammonolysis, thermal compaction, thermal vapor deposition, plasma and photochemical techniques. P3N5 is used in various military, electronic, and construction fields. In this article, first an introduction of P3N5 compound is presented and then physicochemical properties, thermodynamic data, synthesis methods and important applications of P3N5 is provided.
