Representation of the path Schemas of Mystical Journey in Hadiqah al-Haqiqah of Sanai and Tamhidat of Ain al- qadat Hamedani
Spiritual evolution and progress, which mystics interpret as a mystical journey, is an abstract matter. According to cognitive science the theories, the use of image schemas is what makes it possible to express these experiences. Path schema is one of the most important schemas of mystical journey. This research tries to investigate and analyze the use of this schema by Sanā'ie and Qāzi. This research was based on a descriptiveanalytical method. The units of analysis were the distiches and stanzas that contained path schemas in the mentioned works. The scope of our research was the entire contents of Tamhidāt (Preparations) and Hadiqah al-Haqiqah (Garden of Truth). Schemas are largely fundamental; however, the differences between the mystics’ lived experiences and worldviews and those of other schools have differentiated this group from other groups’ schools of thought. Sana'ie and Ain al-Qudzāt paid a lot of attention to the destination and saw the values of the phenomena with regard to their functional roles in connection to God. We assessed this attention by mentioning the evidence in Hadiqah al-Haqiqah and Tamhidāt. Nonetheless, a minor difference was found in the two mystics’ worldviews, which had made Sana'ie see spiritual progress with physical experience in an upward path, while Ghāzi saw it as a circular path. In fact, considering sub-goals is another manifestation of bodily experiences. There were also differences detected between the two mystics in this field as well.
