The Effect of a Training Package on Self-Efficacy and Mental Health of Female High School Students regarding the Healthy Human Theory
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of educational package of healthy human theory on self-efficacy and mental health of female high school students in Fooladshahr.
The research method was quasi-experimental and included a pretest, posttest and a one-month follow-up. The statistical population included all the female high school students (1,200 students) in Fooladshahr in the academic year 2020-2021. Convenience sampling method was used ,and a secondary school in Fooladshahr was selected. Then, mental health screening and self-efficacy questionnaires were distributed among the students. In the second stage, 30 students were selected from those who had lower mental health and self-efficacy and were willing to participate in the study. They were randomly assigned to experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups. The experimental group received thirteen sessions of a revised version of training based on the healthy human theory (Aghaei, Asadi, 2021). The control group remained on the waiting list. Data collection tools in the pretest, posttest and follow-up stages included the Morris Children and Adolescents Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (2001) and the Keys Mental Health Scale (2002). In order analyze data, the analysis of variance with repeated measures was used.
The results showed that the training package regarding the healthy human theory had a significant effect on improving self-efficacy and mental health of students in the posttest stage (p <0.001). The effect continued to the follow-up stage (p <0.001).
According to the findings of this study, it can be said that the training package regarding the healthy human theory has been a suitable method for improving self-efficacy and mental health of female students from senior high school.
