Explaining the Relationship between Space Lighting and the temperament of housewives: a pilot study in the hot and dry climate of Kerman

Abstract:
Quality of life is one of the issues considered by various sciences. One of the affecting factors on the quality of space, in order to Iranian traditional medicine, is how it uses natural daylight that has special effects on health and treatment. The effect of daylight on the physical health and mental states of humans has been investigated in numerous studies of environmental design with health and treatment approaches. It seems that how natural light is received in the artificial environment is one of the factors affecting the occupants' temperament. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between space lighting with people's temperaments. In this article, which is a pilot study due to its limitations, an attempt has been made to explore the relationships between people's temperaments and how to receive natural light in space through a correlational research method. To investigate the hypothesis, a survey was conducted on 144 housewives in Kerman. In this study, the data were collected through a medical questionnaire on Temperament and the residential unit maps. The data were analyzed by chi-square test in spss22 software. Findings showed that 70.7 percent of women living in units type A with lower lighting element levels and receiving daylight from the north-east and south-west had moderate depression and 76.8% of women living in units type B and 77.3% of women living in units Type C had warm and moderate temperament. The results of the Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between space illumination and temperament. It can be said that the lightening of the space affects the health of people, by affecting their temperament, and an architect can help health and moderate the temperament of users by designing the building in order to optimize using of the natural light according to the amount and the way of exposing elements at the presence of passing light.
