Analysis of nomadic livelihood systems with emphasis on sustainable livelihood approach(Case study: Nomadic centers of the Malard city)

Abstract:

Introduction:

 Understanding nomadic communities in terms of capabilities, facilities, limitations and bottlenecks and how they interact is one of the necessities of sustainable development planning.

Purpose of the research

The aim of this study is to identify biological patterns in the framework of sustainable living approach, to compare the five human, social, physical, financial and natural livelihoods available to these biological patterns.

Methodology

Using a modified Cochran's formula, 126 households were determined as the sample size. Data collection was done in the form of documents and surveys using interviews and questionnaires. Student-T-test was used to analyze the data in Spss23 software environment.

Geographical area of research 

The nomads of Mallard city in Tehran province, in Akhtarabad rural area of Safadasht district, have been established. Results and discussion The biological patterns of Mallard County nomads are in two forms. One group of nomads is settled and the other group is semi-nomadic. 

Conclusion:

 The results showed that the average human capital index in the settled nomadic group was 3.45 and semi-nomadic nomads was 3.40. On the other hand, the social capital index in the semi-nomadic nomadic group with a value of 3.76 was higher than that of the settled nomads with a value of 3.18. The physical capital index was 3.83 and 2.98 in the group of settled and semi-nomadic tribes, respectively. The financial capital in the group of settled nomads was 3.97 and semi-nomadic nomads was 2.98. The average natural capital in these two groups was very small and was 1.22 and 1.42 in the settled nomadic group and semi-small in the nomadic group; Therefore, it can be said that the average social and natural capital of semi-nomadic tribes has been high. In addition, the total subsistence assets of the settled and semi-displaced nomads were 3.13 and 2.91, respectively.
