Reforms of Omar bin Abdul Aziz and its impact on the situation of Shiites
Omar ibn Abdul Aziz can be considered one of the few Umayyad caliphs who, unlike his predecessors, tried to create different conditions in the Islamic society, especially for the Shiites, by implementing a series of reforms. Therefore, the question of the present study, which was done using a descriptive-analytical method, is what effect did the reforms of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz have on the situation of the Shiites? The findings of the study show that the Caliph of the Grammar Reform, realizing the importance of the Shiite issue for the Umayyad government and in order to satisfy them; He returned Fadak to the Ahl al-Bayt, re-established khums, guaranteed the pensions of the Alawites and Bani Abd al-Muttalib, and instead of cursing, established respect and esteem for Imam Ali (as) and the Ahl al-Bayt. As a result of these reforms, while creating a more open and appropriate political and intellectual atmosphere, the Shiites under the leadership of Imam Baqir (as) were able to carry out their religious and political affairs more easily.
