The Election Petitions of the Twenty-First National Consultative Assembly: An Analytical Survey
To investigate the content of election petitions of the twenty-first National Consultative Assembly.
Method and Research Design:
In order to distinguish the writers and the addressees of the petitions, and their contents, election petitions of eighteen constituencies were investigated using content analysis.
The investigations clarified that a number of petitions were written before the election with the purpose of supporting a candidate and the addressees were the high-ranking authorities of the country, whereas the others were written after the election by the unsuccessful candidates or their political campaigns and the addressees were the board of control of the election, authorities of The Ministry of Interior and The National Consultative Assembly, The Royal Court and the King. The style and wording of the texts was in conformity with the current condition and discourse of the country and His Majesty’s wishes.
