Abstract:
Heat transfer, which is the movement of heat across the boundary of the system due to the temperature difference between the system and its surroundings, is a well-known phenomenon in everyday life. When cooking or insulating houses, people use the related concepts without knowing the physical principles of this phenomenon. Heat transfer is intuitively related to material properties, that is, to the physical concept of heat conduction. Despite the simplicity of the concept, heat conduction is usually difficult to measure. In this article, a simple, fast and practical method is introduced that gives completely accurate values for the coefficient of thermal conductivity of insulating and semi-insulating materials and is suitable for teaching this concept and implementing it in a classroom environment.
