Prediction of marital infidelity based on readiness for boredom, tendency to risky behaviors and emotional intelligence in people with extramarital relationship

Abstract:

This research was conducted with the aim of predicting the tendency to commit marital infidelity based on readiness for impatience, tendency to risky behaviors and emotional intelligence in people with a history of extramarital relationship. The research method was descriptive and of the type of correlational studies. The statistical population of the present study was all couples with a history of marital infidelity who referred to psychological counseling and services centers of peace of mind and Artiman in Mashhad in 2022, based on Cochran's formula, 250 people with extramarital relationship were selected by available sampling method. The research tools included the questionnaires of tendency to marital infidelity by Bashirpour et al. (2017), readiness for boredom by Fallman et al. (2013), tendency to risky behaviors (2015) and emotional intelligence by Bradbury and Graves (2004). Research data were analyzed with Pearson correlation and multiple regression coefficient using spss software version 24. The results of the research showed that readiness for impatience, tendency to risky behaviors and emotional intelligence can predict the tendency to marital infidelity (P<0.05). The results of the research indicate that with the increase in readiness for impatience, tendency to risky behaviors and decrease in emotional intelligence, the tendency to marital infidelity increases.
