Investigating the effect of social capital on the political culture of Shiraz citizens (with emphasis on the comparative study of those born before and after the 60s)
Social capital is an important element that affects the typology of political culture. The most important reason the thinkers of social and political sciences consider for political effects of this capital is that social capitals have been created by human resources like human skills. In the present study, the theories of Almond, Verba, Putnam, and Bourdieu were used. The exploratory method and survey approach were respectively used for data collection. A survey was done on 382 citizens born before 1981 and 382 citizens born after 1981 in Shiraz; this was done through multi-stage cluster sampling. SPSS software was used for data analysis. The results indicated that there is no significant difference between the two generations regarding social capital but there is a significant difference between them regarding kinds of political culture. Moreover, there is a significantly negative relationship between social capital and limited subordinate political culture among both generations. Furthermore, hypothesis testing showed that empowering social capital results in the growth of the cooperative political culture among both generations.
