The Chest CT Scan Findings 3 Months after Hospitalization in COVID-19 Patients and Its Relationship with Underlying Disease
This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the findings of chest CT scan 3 months after hospitalization in COVID-19 patients and its relationship with the underlying disease.
The present study was of a descriptive-analytical type, which was conducted from the beginning of September 2021 to the end of September 2022 on patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in the department of Imam Khomeini Educational and Therapeutic Hospital affiliated to Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Ahvaz. Demographic information and chest CT scan findings were evaluated and recorded at the time of hospitalization of the patient with COVID-19 for 3 months after hospitalization.
In this study, 100 patients with an average age of 57.49 years were examined, of which 53% were men. 44% of the patients did not have any underlying diseases and the rest of the patients had underlying diseases, among which diabetes and hypertension were the most frequent with 28% and 10%. Examining the findings of CT scan of patients three months showed that 35% of CT scans were normal and 55% of lung fibrosis was reported, and 45% of reported lung fibrosis showed involvement of 5-25%.
In the present study, approximately more than half of all participants had pulmonary involvement on their CT scan results 3 months after hospitalization for COVID-19, with pulmonary fibrosis being the most common.
