A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Social Capital and Tendency to Commit Crime in Iran
Since the mid-eighties, the study of the concept of social capital and its relationship with crime and about social issues has attracted the attention of researchers. The purpose of this article is systematic review and the meta-analysis method to determine the effect size coefficient and other components until to obtain a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of the subject, explanatory theories and its measures in order to investigate the relationship between social capital and crime in Iran during the last two decades.Researchers have benefited the most from the theories of Fukuyama, Putnam, and Coleman. The selection of seventeen published titles was done in several stages. The selected researches have been completed by the survey method and generally in the center and west of Iran. The coefficient of the effect size and the moderating role show that in recent years, the reduction of social capital has led to the tendency to crimes with less intensity. The results show that with the spread of criminal activity in the micro, medium and macro levels of society, the erosion of social capital is no longer one of the main reasons for the tendency to commit crime and even more than that, the legitimized crime becomes a kind of culture and social capital that will have harmful consequences for security and social ethics.
