New methods of police in persuading citizens with the emphasis on human relations
Investigating new techniques of police in persuading citizens by emphasizing human relations could increase people's satisfaction with police performance in public security. In fact, citizen persuasion is a two-way operation in which both police and citizens approach a message and employ it for responding to demands. As a result, citizens are never considered to be passive; instead, they are active individuals. They look for a motivator who responds to their needs. Also, police are active motivators who know that they must pay attention to the needs of audience and respond to them by embracing a straightforward message and goal.
This work is practical in terms of purpose, and it is a mixed (limited) qualitative and quantitative survey in terms of method. The statistical population in the qualitative part is the elites and experts of two social and law enforcement fields to reach theoretical saturation. Also, in the quantitative part, 83 experts from the objective society with responsible characteristics were selected. The sampling method in qualitative part is purposeful and in quantitative part is all counting. The data collection tool is a semi-structured interview with elites in qualitative part and a questionnaire in quantitative part.
The findings indicate that modern methods of police in persuading citizens are counted in four areas: communication type, advertising type, new tools, and new methods. According to the unstandardized beta coefficients, police human relations with β=0.372, new methods of persuasion with β=0.518, police audience orientation with β=0.249, police advertising with β=0.429, and tool persuasion factors with β = 0.574 have a significant contribution in developing persuasion.
The results demonstrated that new methods of police in persuading citizens should prioritize relations with young people, cooperation with organizations, advertisements in social media, optimal imaging techniques, inducement to fame, and appeal to relative facts in security phenomena.
