Peace Journalism: Analyzing the theme of the Taliban regaining power in Afghanistan from the perspective of Iranian newspapers

Abstract:
The news coverage of events related to war and violence is one of the main priorities of the media, therefore, the news value of conflict and confrontation is considered a professional standard in reporting and publishing media texts; The concept of peace journalism is opposed to this approach. This genre of journalism tries to eliminate and reduce the harmful effects of war and conflict with logical methods and by observing certain standards. In this research, while introducing and reviewing the literature of peace journalism, the approach of the Iranian press in facing the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan is examined within the framework of the components of peace journalism with the qualitative method of content analysis. For this purpose, 50 articles published in 5 newspapers (Kihan, Resalat, Sharq, Aftab Yazd and Hamshahri) in the period of one week from August 30 to September 4, 1400 were taken as a statistical sample and the basic, organizing and comprehensive themes were extracted and It is presented in the form of a table of themes. The investigated newspapers have looked at the nature of the Taliban government from two pessimistic and optimistic perspectives, analyzed the causes of the Taliban's return to power in two categories, internal and external causes, and predicted possible threats and opportunities and solutions to face them. have presented with the developments that have occurred.
