Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Public Service Motivation Model in Higher Education Sector
The growing importance of public service motivation in the last three decades has led to its increasing use in human resource management. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to confirm the factor analysis of the public service motivation model in the higher education sector among the faculty members of Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran branch.
In terms of methodology, this research is a mixed research. In the qualitative part, based on previous studies and using the meta-synthesis qualitative method, the model was explained and presented. In the quantitative part of the studied population, there were 1087 faculty members of Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran branch, and the sample size is 200 of who were selected by random method based on Kline's formula. By using a researcher-made questionnaire, information was collected and the external and internal validity of the model was investigated by SmartPLS software.
In the external model, composite reliability and convergent validity were confirmed, and the factor loadings of all indicators were above 0.4, which is acceptable. The second-order factor analysis in the external model show that the coefficients of all paths are significant and the causal relationship of dimensions and components is confirmed.
The model has the goodness of fit. The environmental, value and behavioral-social dimensions of the research model provide a useful framework to understand the nature of the public service motivation of human resources in the higher education sector for officials, managers and specialists in this field.
