The semantics of the Word “Helm” Based on the Opinions of the Farighain Commentators
“Helm” is one of the most frequent and important words in the moral system of the Qur'an. This word has been mentioned in the Qur'an fifteen times with the interpretation of “Halim”; eleven of them have been considered as one of the attributes of God Almighty; and four as one of the characteristics of the great divine prophets. An investigation of the views and opinions of Shiite and Sunni commentators, following the relevant verses, shows that the meanings of the word “helm” in the verses of the Qur'an are related to patience and lack of haste in punishing the rebels. The word “Halim” was also associated with other divine attributes such as “Ghafoor”, “Alim”, “Ghani” and “Shakur”, and there is a significant connection between them.
