A Comparative Study of Health-Related Quality of Life in Two Groups of Students of Martyrs' Families and Ordinary: A Case Study of Golestan Province

Abstract:
Purpose

Among the vulnerable groups in society are students whose quality of life is facing challenges due to various individual, social, educational and occupational stresses. In today's changing life conditions, the quality of life related to the health of this group is an important issue. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of comparatively evaluating the quality of life related to health in two groups of martyrs and normal students.

Materials and Methods

This was a descriptive cross-sectional and causal-comparative study. The statistical population included all students of the control family in Golestan province. Using available sampling method, 120 people (60 control students and 60 normal students) were selected and answered the checklist of demographic-researcher-made information and quality of life questionnaire (SF-36). The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance with SPSS / 26.

Findings

The mean and standard deviation of the age of the students of the martyr’s families was 27.17. 3.48 years and that of the normal students was 28.05. 4.16. The results of Manova analysis showed that in general health dimensions, role limitation due to emotional reasons, social functioning, vitality, mental health and total quality of life score between control and normal students (P <0.05) but in health dimensions There is no significant difference between the two groups of students due to physical reasons, role limitation due to physical reasons and physical pain (P <0.05).

Conclusion

The findings emphasize that quality of life related to health as a key factor in health prevention programs and treatment interventions among control and normal students should be considered by mental health professionals.
