Structural Equation Modeling of the Relationship between Social Capital and the Professional Competence of Educational Managers with the Mediation of Organizational Culture in Damavand Schools

Abstract:
Purpose

Professional competence in educational managers and its improvement and promotion are not created by themselves and require scientific and practical planning, and one of its aspects is attention to social capital and organizational culture. The main goal of the research is to model the structural equations of the relationship between social capital and the professional competence of educational managers with the mediation of organizational culture in Damavand schools.

Materials and methods

The research method was applied in terms of purpose, quantitative in terms of data type, and was carried out with two survey and cross-sectional methods. The statistical population included all educational managers of Damavand schools in the academic year 2018-2019. The sample size was estimated to be 240 people using the method proposed by Schumacher and Lomax (2004). To collect data, Delaviz's standard social capital questionnaires (2014), Denison's organizational culture questionnaire (2000) and Melainejad's professional qualifications questionnaire (2014) were used, and their validity and reliability were retested, and Cronbach's alpha coefficients of all components were was higher than 0.7. To test the research model, structural equations were used with the help of Amose software.

Findings

The results showed that organizational culture and social capital explain a total of 57% of the variance of professional competence in educational managers and the structural model of the relationship between social capital and professional competence of educational managers with the mediation of organizational culture in Damavand schools with data The collected data have an acceptable fit.

Conclusion

social capital has an effect on the professional competence of educational managers through the mediation of organizational culture and its components in Damavand schools.
