Investigation of Awareness and Attitude related to the COVID-19 pandemic in pregnant women referring to health centers in Ardabil City in 2019
Background &
COVID-19 is a global disease that affects pregnant women who are in a special state of immunosuppression due to the physiological conditions of pregnancy; exposes a lot of danger. For this reason, this study was conducted with the aim of determining the awareness and attitude related to the covid-19 pandemic in pregnant women.
Materials &
The present study was a descriptive-cross-sectional study in which 250 pregnant mothers of Ardabil city were studied. Sampling was done in a multi-stage manner. The data collection tool was a demographic information checklist and a researcher-made questionnaire with 22 knowledge and attitude questions. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS version 21 software, and parametric t-tests of two independent samples, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson's correlation test were used for statistical analysis of data.
The total attitude score of pregnant women was 39.33±5.73 in the range of 21 to 50, and the total knowledge score of pregnant women was 7.36±2.31 in the range of 0 to 13. The score of awareness and attitude towards the corona virus did not show a statistically significant relationship with age classification, but it showed a significant relationship with job status and education (P<0.05).
Mothers were worried about the methods of transmission of corona virus to the fetus and breastfeeding, etc., which was due to lack of awareness. Therefore, cooperation between specialists and health officials regarding the development of educational programs is necessary in order to increase awareness and attitude.
