The Effect of Patient Companion Programmed Participation in Primary Nursing Care on Chest Pain among Cardiac Intensive Unit Patients of Razi Hospital in Birjand in 2022
Hospitalization of patients in cardiac intensive care units is associated with negative outcomes .Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of the family participation training program in primary nursing care on chest pain in patients of the cardiac special care department of Razi Birjand Hospital in 2021-2022
This study was a semi-experimental before and after study with a control group. A total of 48 patients were randomly selected in a control group and 24 in the intervention group (block of 4 people). 48 other participants also participated patient companions. Together with the patient in the intervention group, they were allowed to be with the patient for 3 days for 30 minutes and participate in their primary clinical care. In the control group, a routine appointment was made in the ward. Chest pain in both groups was measured at the beginning and on the third day of hospitalization. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 16 software.
The mean score of pain intensity was higher in the intervention group than in the control group, but no significant difference was observed between the two groups (p=0.313). However, there was a significant difference between the average pain intensity after the intervention in the two groups (p=0.03).
Using this program can significantly reduce the chest pain of patients. Therefore, it is recommended. The use of this method in special cardiac care units to reduce the heart pains of this patient should be considered by supervisors and officials of these units.
