The role of cognitive fusion and experiential avoidance in predict depression disorder

Abstract:

depression disorder is one of the most common mental disorders in the world many psychological factors play an important role in the occurrence and prevalence of this disorder. the aim of this study was the role of cognitive fusion and experiential avoidance in predict depression disorder. This research is a descriptive correlational study. The study population included all national south oil-rich regions company employees who were employed in 1399-1400. The sample of the present study was obtained based on the Cochran's formula of 371 people. Due to the possibility of distrust questionnaires, 418 employees were selected by available sampling method and instruments used in the present study were the mental disorder questionnaire (SCL-90), experimental avoidance (AAQ) and cognitive fusion(CFQ). the results of Pearson correlation coefficient showed that there is a correlation coefficient of 0.35 between cognitive fusion and depression disorder which was significant at the 0.001. Also, there is a correlation coefficient of 0.32 between experimental avoidance and depression disorder, which was significant 0.001. In addition, the results of linear regression analysis showed that cognitive fusion and experimental avoidance could predict depression disorder. cognitive fusion and experiential avoidance have an effective role in predicting depressive disorder, to reduce depression disorder, psychological flexibility and cognitive fusion training should be used. Finally, it is suggested that empirical and quasi-experimental research be conducted for causal conclusions.
