Abstract:

From demand perspective, water is an essential and irreplaceable commodity in the household basket and production intermediate demand in the economic sectors. In economics, the price of a commodity depends on the final demand for it but this issue is not the same for water due to its low price. All the economic sectors are dependent on water and no sector can operate and offer services without it. Water is in close contact with environment. The economy based on recirculating of water and use of sewage effluent in the manufacturing sector leads to decrease in usage of underground water. This paper uses the statistics of water accounting and based on the input-output tables, calculates the incremental coefficient of sewage effluent, surface water, underground water, Water abstraction from the sea, and usage of water in industrial units in different sectors of economy and predicts the amount of water consumption based on the national economic growth and population growth for the year 1410.
