Abstract:
Large number of road crashes and their consequences has made road safety a worldwide challenge. Behind any traffic conflict indicators are assumptions which takes them away from statistical analysis of real road crashes. We conducted road crash simulation using finite element methods and analysis them to asses safety. To high accurate scrutiny crashes, finite element is used. By running crash finite element models in Ls-Dyna simulation is ran based on angles and relative velocities in different states (area stucked in crash). In other words multy body elasto-plastic dynamic finite element model is simulated. By analyzing vehicle sets before and after crash and by means of kinetic energy law, dissipated energy is calculated. Dissipated energy reveals as transformation in area stucked in crash. Therefore for each crash scenario dissipated crash energy is calculated and graph for each one is derived. Different mode of material is assessed and reflected in crash analysis. So by energy absorbtion crash severity is predicted.
