Abstract:
Military jobs are with high stress and exceptional complexity. Job stress in these jobs can have major consequences in the family context. The aim of this study was to investigate the moderating role of resilience in the relationships between job stress and marital conflict. In this descriptive-correlational study, the statistical sample included 150 employees of Police Units at Bojnourd city in 2022 that were selected using the available sampling method. In order to collect data, the Iranian Police Stress Scale, Marital Conflict Questionnaire, and Resilience Questionnaire were used. Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis were used to test the research hypotheses. Findings showed that there is a significant relationship between mission stressors (r=0.34, p<0.0001) and non-mission stressors (r=0.18, p<0.0001) with marital conflict. Also, the results showed that the interaction of mission stressors (p<0.02, ΔF = 1.16, ΔR2 = 0.025) and non-mission stresses (p<0.02, Δ F = 1.45, ΔR2 = 0.026) with resilience, beyond the effects of the main variables, created 2.5% and 2.6% of the exclusive variance for the model, respectively, indicating that these variables interact significantly with each other in predicting marital conflict. The results of the present study showed the importance of resilience as a moderator of the relationship between job stress and marital conflict. Therefore, it is recommended that military agencies strengthen their resilience through appropriate educational interventions to reduce the impact of job stress on their employees' family conflicts.
