Sociological Analysis of decline in Intra-Family Communications and Addiction Relapse (Gorgan, 2021-2022)
Addiction relapse can be studied from several aspects that each of them can be significant in its place, one of these dimensions is social factors that encompasses a widespreadrange. This article is a part of a grounded theory study that examines the role of decline in Intra-Family Communications affecting relapse.The participants of this study have been selected among addicted individuals who had a history of addiction relapse three times or more in the past three months or more after quitting and who had been discharged or were being discharged from addiction treatment centers in Gorgan city through purposive and theoretical sampling, and data collection was continued until the theoretical saturation stage through semi-structured in-depth interviews that for this purpose,21 subjects were interviewed. The analysis and coding started and continued concurrent with data collection. According to the study findings, the decline in intra-family communications was selected as the central phenomenon, moreover, four components of the decline and downfall of social capital within the network, constant fear of blame, social and family limbo and , absent of communication network are pondered as background conditions and three components of the intolerable events of the past, obscurity and despair of the family and addiction scandalhave been considered as part of the causal conditions and four components of assumed intra-network culprit, relapse history, decline in social trust and assumed social convict have been deemed as intervening factors. in the following, palliative consumption, network cohesion, avoidance of social relations, consuming for committing suicide, distancing from family and society, deciding to committing suicide and intending to committing suicide were elicited as strategies resulting from action and interaction, eventually the decline in family dignity, homelessness and abandonment, family disintegration, divorce and separation, sleeping rough, social shame, death resulting from committing suicide and death arising from drug overdose were discovered and named as consequences. As a result, to comprehend and explain the problem and also to intervene due to reducing the relapse rate, considering the phenomenon of decline in intra-family communications in the context and deemed conditions is importantand neglecting this importance will be added to the challenges and problems of relapse and its consequences.
