A comparative study of police security management of football matches in Iran and selected countries

The security management of football matches is of special importance for managers and sports planners due to the presence of numerous spectators in football stadiums. Based on this, the main goal of this research is the comparative study of disciplinary management of football matches.

This research is applied and a comparative study in terms of its purpose, and the required information was collected through the library and translation of research documents and reports using the comparative study method with the qualitative content analysis technique. The statistical population includes member countries of the World Football Federation (FIFA) in different continents, and the statistical sample was selected as a purposive sampling including the countries of England, America, Portugal, South Korea, Japan, Netherlands, Serbia, Brazil and South Africa. Data analysis was done using MaxQuda software version 2017.

According to the results of the research, the continent of Africa has the most accidents, the continents of Europe, Asia and North America are in the next ranks. The results show that at least 22 measures before the game to ensure the security of football matches include risk assessment, traffic and parking management, formation of command headquarters, , in the section of measures during the game, out of 22 measures, measures such as control of entry and exit points,, protection of the playing field, proper deployment, control and direction of spectators, use of cameras and finally in the 11 extracted cases regarding post-match actions, documentation of events and incidents, reporting and review, investigation of social performance problems, for future matches.

Providing and guaranteeing the security of important sports events such as football matches requires a professional service-oriented and modern police mechanism with the ability to compete with traditional and inefficient mechanisms and is coordinated and compatible with today's conditions.
