Crime prevention strategies based on the activity of high school students in betting sites
The increasing use of virtual space and restrictions on leisure programs have caused some people to participate in it in their free time, despite being aware of the criminality of being on betting sites. If this issue continues, an addiction to continuous activity in betting sites will be formed, which will have many negative consequences, especially in the student group. Therefore, the purpose of the current research; Crime prevention strategies are based on the activities of high school students in betting sites.
The current research is practical in terms of purpose and was conducted using a qualitative method using a descriptive phenomenological approach. The participants in the current research were university faculty members in the department of psychology, counseling and sports management, high school students involved in the betting process, and students' parents in 2023; A sample of 16 people was selected from the mentioned people. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview with open questions. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the research content, the interviews were conducted in a semi-structured manner. In order to finalize the research, the validity and reliability criteria were used.
By analyzing the information obtained from the participants in the research, the crime prevention strategies based on the activities of high school students in betting sites were divided into 48 sub-topics in the form of 6 main topics: the role of the police force, The role of the family, the role of the individual, the role of the peer group, the role of leisure programs and the role of counselors were formed.
The concepts identified in this research help to reduce the activity of students in betting sites and ultimately prevent cyber crimes resulting from virtual space.
