Abstract:
The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on self-differentiation and suicidal thoughts in women with suicide attempts. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all women attempting suicide, referred to the emergency center of Loqman Hospital in Tehran in 1402. The statistical sample included 30 people who were selected as available and then randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group underwent 10 90-minute sessions of cognitive behavioral therapy, and the control group remained on the waiting list. Data collection tools included self-differentiation questionnaire (Skorn and Friedlander, 1998), and suicidal thoughts questionnaire (Beck, 1961). Also, in order to measure validity, content validity was used, and for this purpose, the questionnaire was approved by the relevant experts. The analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaires was done through SPSS-v24 software in two descriptive and inferential parts (analysis of covariance). The results showed that cognitive behavioral therapy increased self-differentiation in women with suicide attempts. Also, the results showed that cognitive behavioral therapy reduced suicidal thoughts in women with suicide attempts. The findings of this research indicated the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on self-differentiation and suicidal thoughts in women with suicide attempts.
