determined factors of readiness to defend the homeland against the foreign enemy (case study: Guchan city)

In order to reduce their vulnerability, all societies try to maintain the readiness of society members to defend the homeland against foreign enemies. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating readiness for defense of the homeland and the social factors affecting it among the people of Quchan city. The research method was survey and the research instrument was questionnaire, in the form of vignettes. The population was citizens of 15 to 65 years of age of Qochan, which was completed by multi-stage random sampling with a sample size of 323 people . Formal validity based on experts' opinion and Cronbach's alpha were used for the reliability of the measurement tool structure. The analysis of research data has been done with SPSS version 21 and the use of correlation measurement between variables and multivariate regression test. The results of the research showed that the factors affecting the defense of the homeland are different in men and women. While in women, the factors related to social solidarity, empathy, hope to help fellow countrymen in times of problems have a great influence on their readiness to sacrifice, in men, the feeling of social responsibility and pressure and role modeling are the main motivation to be on the front line. Here, we should mention the serious and powerful factor of religiosity, which is common among all types of self-sacrifice, including men and women. The factor of religiosity has explained both types of self-sacrifice in men and women with a significant contribution.
