Investigation of Psychometric Properties of the Persian version of the Short Depression-Happiness Scale among students
The aim of the present study is to investigate and adapt the psychometric properties of the Short Depression-Happiness Scale among students. This scale has six items that are scored on a 4-point Likert scale from 0 (never) to 3 (often). The total scores are continuous from 0 to 18, with lower scores indicating depression and higher scores indicating happiness.
The method of this research was a descriptive: factor analysis and correlation. The statistical population was all students of Ahvaz Azad University that 400 participants were selected from this population by multi-stage cluster sampling. Also, the instruments used in the study included the Short Depression-Happiness Scale (SDHS-6), the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale (RSPWB-18) and the Symptom Chek-List (SCL-25).
The results show six-item and one-factor confirmation of the scale. The validity of the criterion and the desired content were also reported. Cronbach's alpha reliability and retest were also reported to be 0.79 and 0.80, respectively, which is desirable.
the authors of the survey conclude that the Short Depression-Happiness Scale or in other words short psychological well-being can be used in internal studies, especially immediate or survey studies that require rapid or large data collection.
