The Role of Religious Propagation in Political Mobilization for Tobacco Movement
One of the most important topics in recent years is the debate on the relationship between Howzah and politics; In particular, the relationship between religious ceremonies and propagation, and politics. Some try to show that the approach of Howzah and religious missionaries, is the separation of these religious institutions from politics. To answer this doubt, in the form of a case study, we examined the debate in the "tobacco movement", and considering the limitations of the article, we examined only the question of "what role religious propagation plays in political mobilization in that movement?". To answer this question, by using the theory of "political mobilization in political sociology" and with the method of historical analysis and qualitative content analysis, we tried to investigate the role of religious missionaries and analyze the content of historical documents, especially announcements, letters and speeches of the religious missionaries. The findings and results of the research show that religious missionaries used the preaching ceremonies and events of Muharram and Ramadan , religious places such as mosques, pulpits and lectures , and issued announcements and declarations applying the valuable elements of Jihad and martyrdom, association and disassociation (Tawalli & Tabarri) , explained to the people the consequences of the "Tobacco contract", including the domination of the infidels and the humiliation of Muslims , and the fact that the contract was against Sharia rules , and ultimately had an effective role in mobilizing valuable resources (loyalties and tasks), and with this action, they provided the ground for the annulment of the (tobacco) contract .
