Predicting the degree of marital compatibility based on emotional reactivity and my position with the mediation of marital boredom in couples with marital conflict
Marital compatibility is a challenge that individuals face in married life. To reduce marital compatibility problems, factors related to it must be identified. Therefore, the aim of this study is to predict the level of marital compatibility in couples with marital conflict based on emotional responsiveness and my position, considering the mediating role of marital disillusionment.
This research is descriptive and correlational in terms of design. The statistical population consists of couples in Tabriz who seek counseling due to marital problems. The purposive sampling method was used, selecting couples with scores on the marital conflict questionnaire deviating one standard deviation above the mean. The sample size was 350 participants. Participants completed the marital compatibility questionnaire, the self-differentiation questionnaire, and the marital disillusionment questionnaire.
The results showed that emotional responsiveness (β = 0.265, t = 4.539) and my position (β = 0.343, t = 3.953) are able to predict marital compatibility. Marital disillusionment is significantly correlated with marital compatibility (β = - 0.380, t = -6.111), and marital disillusionment plays a mediating role in predicting marital compatibility based on emotional responsiveness (Z = 5.260) and my position (Z = 2.703). Emotional responsiveness and my position with marital disillusionment mediation can predict marital compatibility by 29.9% and 34.3%, respectively.
The results indicate that by strengthening self-differentiation and my position in couples, marital disillusionment can be reduced, leading to an increase in marital compatibility
