The Effectiveness of Emotion-Based Couple Therapy Training on Emotional Literacy, Couple Compatibility, Marital Burnout andDistress Tolerance in Couples Referring to Clinics in Gonbad City
The purpose of this research was to investigate theeffectiveness of emotion-based couple therapy training onemotional literacy, couple compatibility, marital burnout anddistress tolerance in couples referring to Gonbad clinics.
The statistical population of this researchis all couples who referred to Gonbad city clinics in 2019-2020.Available sampling method was used to select the sample. Thesample size was considered equal to 32 people, and the subjectswere randomly divided into two experimental groups (16 people)and control group (16 people). In this plan, the therapeuticintervention of marital relationship enrichment training during ninesessions is considered as an independent variable and the variablesof emotional literacy, couple compatibility, marital boredom anddistress tolerance are considered as dependent variables. The datacollection tools were emotional literacy subscale of Irani KimiaiFamily Psychological Functions Scale, Spanier Marital AdjustmentScale (DAS), Pines Marital Disappointment Scale and Simmons andGaher Distress Tolerance Questionnaire.
The results showed that emotion-based couple therapy iseffective on emotional literacy, couple compatibility, maritalburnout and distress tolerance in couples visiting the clinic (P<0.01).
Focusing on attachment issues enabled emotionoriented couple therapy to achieve important positive results incouple therapy.
