The Effectiveness of Positive Psychology on Anger Control and Rumination in Married Women with High Marital Dissatisfaction
The present study was conducted with the aim of theeffectiveness of positive psychology on controlling anger andrumination in married women with high marital dissatisfaction.
The current study is a semi-experimentaltype in which a pre-test-post-test design was conducted with acontrol group with measurement at the baseline after theintervention and a 3-month follow-up with the control group. Anumber of 30 married women with high marital dissatisfaction whoreferred to couple therapy clinics in the west of Tehran betweenApril and May 1401, taking into account the entry criteria, wereselected from those who were willing to participate in the research(with written consent). It was done through random replacement inthe following way and they were randomly assigned to theexperimental group (positive psychology; (n=15) and the controlgroup (n=15). All participants completed the anger control scale andrumination questionnaire in three stages. Completed and measured.Group therapy sessions were conducted in 8 90-minute sessions inaccordance with the positive psychology treatment protocol.Hypotheses related to the effectiveness of the research interventionswere analyzed using variance analysis with repeated measurements.
The results of the present study It showed that there is nosignificant difference between the three groups in the mean of angercontrol and rumination in the pre-test stage, which indicates thehomogeneity of the three research groups in the pre-test stage, butthere was a significant difference between the three groups in thepost-test and follow-up stages. It can indicate the effectiveness ofthe intervention on the mentioned variables and the stability ofeffectiveness has been in the follow-up phase. The examination andcomparison of the experimental group and the control group alsoshowed that there is a significant difference between the two groupsin the components of anger control and rumination.
The results of this research showed that theaforementioned treatment can be used as a psychologicalintervention to improve anger control and rumination in marriedwomen with high marital dissatisfaction
