Abstract:
This research has examined the images of the book "Conversation", especially for foreign language learners, using the visual analysis method. This book, with the content of the conversations training, is compiled for foreign learners at the A1 level and has many pictures. The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of the images of this book from the teacher's point of view, in order to investigate the images of an educational resource at the beginner level. The images in this book were evaluated quantitatively based on the "number and type of images" from Hill's (2013) point of view in Timilson (2013). Then, the sociocultural components of the linguistic community of Iran for foreign Persian learners have also been examined from the perspective of Bourdieu's (1986) theories of "cultural and social capital." The social, cultural and identity components that should be considered in the creation of an educational resource were studied in the book "Conversation for Learners of Persian as a Second Language." This research has presented a checklist of the essential features of images in Persian language educational resources for foreign learners, which can be effective in preparing images for the educational purposes of a teaching resource for teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers at the beginner level.
