Investigating the function of the recognition and separation committee in keeping Iraqi pridoners (1982-1990)

With the increase in the number of Iraqi pridoners since the second and third year of the Iraq-Iran war, the necessity of forming a coherent organization in order to keep the pridoners was felt.In April 1982 Komision-e edareie osaraie araghi (Commission for the Administration of Iraqi pridoners), started working with the purpose of keeping Iraqi pridoners.

To the recognition and separation committee and to analyze the role and performance of this committee in keeping Iraqi pridoners during the war between Iraq and Iran.

Method and Research Design: 

This research was carried out with a descriptive-analytical method and based on archival documents of the Organization of Holy Defense Documents and Documents.

Based on the findings of this research, the recognition and separation committee Iraqi pridoners was able to play an important role in the success of Iran's captivity. The performance of this committee in preventing riots and the escape of pridoners by transferring them between camps, cooperating in identifying disabled, injured and sick pridoners and verifying their intelligence and security qualifications to return to Iraq, examining and confirming the asylum requests of pridoners and their deportation requests. To the front for the war with the Iraqi Baath regime, intelligence cooperation in the exchange of Iraqi pridoners and cooperation with the propaganda and public relations committee in order to neutralize the unrealistic claims of the Iraqi Baath regime against Iran's captivity were very important.
