The Effect of Archetypes in Enhancing the Sense of Place in the Architectural Space (Case Study: The Mandala Archetype in the Roman Dome by Nader Khalili)
Man creates the place and the place affects the man and this cycle continues. The concept of a sense of place is tied to results depending on individual and group characteristics and cultural and social contexts. Therefore, paying attention to archetypes, which, from Jung’s point of view, are the contents of the collective unconscious and are common to all humans, can be effective. This research is descriptive-analytical. In this research, based on the collection of thinkers’ opinions about the sense of place and also Jung’s thought, the analysis of the archetype and then its connection and commonality with the sense of place has been done, and finally, the hypothesis of the influence of the mandala archetype in creating a sense of place in the sample A case of the Roman dome in California has been investigated based on the available information and their analysis. The information was collected using the library method and the data analysis method is qualitative. The results of this research show that symbols always have a meaning behind their appearance, and it is through this meaning that they can establish a connection with their audience and create a feeling, considering that architecture is one of the areas of manifestation of archetypes, then man can To connect with these places through meaning and to improve the sense of place, we concluded our hypothesis.
