Prerequisites for Quranic Research from Perspective of Ayatollah Khamenei

The Holy Quran- which is the word of God- has come to guide humanity and, for various Aqli and Naqli (Aqli is conventional knowledge, while Naqli is revealed knowledge sourced from Quran and Sunnah) reasons, it requires interpretation. Therefore, understanding the purpose of God in revealing this Divine Book makes the need to be familiar with the prerequisites of Quranic studies more apparent. Achieving a coherent set of prerequisites for Quranic research based on Ayatollah Khamenei’s system of thoughts and beliefs is the main objective of the present writing. This paper, with a focus on the Quran and the statements of Ayatollah Khamenei, uses a descriptive-analytical method to infer and extract these research prerequisites of the Holy Quran. The main question that we face in the present research is: What are the prerequisites of Quranic research based on Ayatollah Khamenei’s comments? Acquaintance with the Quran; Quran centrality; Referring to the Hadiths of the Infallible Imams (AS) with purification; Discovering the governing structure of the Quran; Paying attention to the "progressive and reformist" nature of the Quran; Paying attention to the layered and luminous nature of the Quran; Concentrating on Quranic sciences; and the authority of the Quran are among the most important findings of this research.
