Transformations in Contemporary Architectural Education in Iran; Integrated Flexible Education

Abstract:
Despite the successive transformations in educational approaches in Iran and the world, the reliance on the course descriptions approved for the field of architecture, focusing on the content of course presentations, objectives, and instructional resources, has failed to lead to the improvement and qualitative update of education and the alignment between employment and learning environments during various revisions made in the past thirty years. This paper aims to compare the feasibility of employing curriculum planning strategies in the field of architecture by examining the critical literature on contemporary architectural education. The current descriptive research method utilizes post-event and research-action strategies in the field of architectural education, considering its objective, practical, comparative, and argumentative aspects, as well as the spectrum of changes over the discussed time period. Integrated education provides a more flexible platform and greater freedom from the nature of place and limitations of existing tools in academic environments, enabling increased interaction with specialized individuals and the job market. This characteristic, coupled with the advancement of artificial intelligence, can optimize learning outcomes according to the needs of employment spaces through personalized counseling for students based on their individual talents and interests in the field of architecture.
