These days, as the population ages, health and treatment of geriatric people needs increasing. The The World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed an age-friendly hospital for countries concerned with geriatric care. This study aims to investigate the degree of compatibility of non-academic and private hospitals in Razavi Khorasan in terms of the criteria of hospitals using the WHO checklist for geriatric patients.
The cross-sectional study designed in Razavi Khorasan province during February 1402 to 1403, with the participation of non-teaching and private hospitals. The data collection tool was "WHO Elderly Friendly Hospitals Checklist". Here, 3 hospitals of the Social Security Organization and 16 private non-teaching hospitals in Razavi Khorasan province were investigated. SPSS version 22 software and descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, number and percentage were used for data analysis.
An average of 32.84 was seen in the indicators of the elderly-friendly hospital. This is despite the fact that the physical environment as well as sanitary services had the highest average and the lowest points were related to admission and payment, respectively, that 94.7% of hospitals did not give priority to the elderly in the admission and settlement process. In terms of access to hospitals, only 26% of hospitals were near a bus station or metro station, and none of the hospitals had dedicated parking and a separate entrance for the elderly, and other components were also in an unfavorable condition.
Private and non-educational hospitals in Razavi Khorasan Province are in a very unfavorable situation in relation to the criteria of elderly-friendly Hospital. Therefore, in order to provide proper care to the elderly, it is necessary to pay attention to the policy makers, managers and investors provide better care to the elderly.
