Structural Pattern of Academic Engagement based on Basic Psychological Needs: mediator role of Intrinsic Value of the task
The aim of the present study examines the structural model of Academic Engagement based on Basic Psychological Needs wih mediator role of Intrinsic Value of the task. The research method was correlation. The statistical population of the research included all students of the second secondary level of Shiraz city in the academic year of 2021-2022, and 245 students were selected as the research sample by multi-stage cluster random sampling method. The data collection tools in this research were: La Guardia and et al (2000) Basic Psychological Needs Questionnaire, Pintrich and et al Task Value Questionnaire (1991) and Gunuc and Kuzu's Academic engagement Questionnaire (2015). Data analysis was done using SPSS and AMOS software and by path analysis. The results of the analysis showed that the proposed model had a good fit and the effect of the basic psychological needs on the intrinsic value of the assignment and academic engagement as well as the effect of the intrinsic value of the assignment on the academic engagement was positive. And it was meaningful. Also, the mediating role of the intrinsic value of the assignment was significant. According to the results of the research, it can be concluded that the basic psychological needs through the intrinsic value of the assignment are factors influencing academic engagement.
