Abstract:
Aims

Judo is a sport that imposes significant physiological demands on Judokas. In judo, the production of lactic acid and the decrease in body PH are the causes of damage to sports performance. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of 4 - week of circuit training based on judo techniques with L-arginine supplementation on blood lactic acid level and functional indicatiors of male judokas.

Methods

In a semi experimental research project, 20 healthy male judoka with an average age of 17.85 ± 1.77 years were selected by available sampling method. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups of exercise-supplement (10 people) and exercise-placebo (10 people). Two groups performed circuit training based on judo techniques for 20 minutes with an intensity of 85-90% of maximum heart rate as the main training protocol (3 sessions per week for 4 weeks). The subjects of the exercise-supplement group consumed one gram of L-arginine tablets at the rate of 4 grams per day for 4 weeks. ).

Results

A significant decrease in blood lactate level was observed in the exercise-supplement group (P<0.05). A significant increase in aerobic power and anaerobic power, a significant decrease in fatigue index were observed in both groups (P<0.05). These changes were significantly higher in the exercise-supplement group (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Performing judo specific circuit training along with L-arginine supplementation improves aerobic and anaerobic capacity, reduces fatigue index and reduces lactic acid production in male judo kas.
