The Position of Ansar in the Political and Religious Events of the Era of the Prophet of Islam
In the days of the Prophet (PBUH) and after that, each of the two groups, Ansar and Muhajir, despite their brotherhood and equality, maintained their tribal distinctions and sometimes boasted. Especially after the Prophet (PBUH), they came into two historical and political currents and competed. During the caliphate of Ali (a.s.), the Ansars were serious and passionate supporters of the Holy Prophet and played a role in most of the political and military events of this era. As Imam Ali (a.s.) wrote in a letter to Mu'awiyah that the Muhajireen and Ansar were of one heart and agreed with him in their pledge of allegiance. In the battle of Safin, prominent Ansar figures such as Bara bin Azeb, Abdul Rahman bin Abi Lili, Hazimah bin Thabit and Zaid bin Argham took part, and Muawiya became so angry that he blamed the Ansar for Ali (pbuh) always following the Prophet (pbuh). He supported the Ansar, and a group of them also testified to the authenticity of the hadith of Wilayat and the incident of Ghadeer. During Muawiya's time, Ansar were blamed more. When Basrabn Abi Artah Amiri, the commander of Muawiya's army, attacked Hejaz and entered Medina, he addressed the Ansar with terms such as Ibna bin Al-Ubayd (children of slaves) and Mushar al-Yhud (group of Jews) and humiliated them. Muawiya's enmity with the Ansar was to such an extent that he always tried with Amr bin as to officially overthrow the title of the Ansar, but they did not succeed.
