Abstract:

The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the predictive role of internal and external religious orientations in students' resilience. To achieve this goal, 320 students were selected from among all male and female students of Farhangian University using multi-stage cluster random sampling method. The necessary data were collected using the questionnaire of religious orientation (internal and external) of Allport and Ross and the adult resilience scale of Hamedal, Freiburg, Martinusen and Rosening. The data of this research were analyzed using the Pearson correlation statistical method and multiple regression analysis simultaneously. The findings showed that internal religious orientations have a positive significant relationship with all dimensions of resilience (individual competence, social competence, family cohesion, social resources and individual structure); However, external religious orientation negatively predicted resilience only after family cohesion, and other dimensions of resilience had no significant relationship with students' external religious orientation. The results and its implications were discussed based on the theoretical background.
